Histamine is found in certain foods and some people may experience allergy-like responses to ingesting these foods.

Crohn’s disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), leaky gut or a gut microbiome imbalance can cause someone to have histamine intolerance.

It should be noted that this supplement does not manage or address antibody-related or IgE-related food allergies.

The following foods contain higher levels of histamine: fermented dairy products, such as cheese (especially aged), yogurt, sour cream, buttermilk, and kefir; fermented vegetables, such as sauerkraut and kimchi; pickles or pickled veggies; kombucha; cured or fermented meats, such as sausages, salami, and fermented ham; alcohol; fermented soy products; sourdough bread; tomatoes, eggplant, spinach; vinegar and tomato ketchup.

To practice a lower histamine diet, we suggest: cook your own meals, eat foods as close to their original form as possible, keep a daily food diary to pinpoint triggers, avoid processed foods, eat only fresh foods and avoid leftovers.
